Synopsis:
Conceived for the parking space of the Goethe Institute in Mexico City the project consists of a wooden sculpture, a magnification of a U.S. standard wooden ruler (inches). The piece acts like a scale for the environment, used to measure spatial dimensions it here measures in its own rights, diminuishing actual space into plan or project size. It also acts as an arch, since you can pass under it, and it adds a festive element by looking like a crown with two light bulbs on the upper spikes.
It has become a moveable item, folded it can be sent via plane and re-erected in short time, since its genial structural elements or arms to hold it upright. It can be placed in front of every building to question its metaphorical size within the city structure.
Technical details:
12 wooden foldable and printed arms, each 1.9×0.2 meters, metal structure, light bulbs and cables.
