revolves around recognizing oneself in the gaze of another. The exhibition ceases at the point when one\u2019s own presence, similar to the end of a romantic relationship, fades from the gaze of the other. It is this subtle shift in regard, whether it offers containment or not, that encompasses the catastrophe of rupture in its entirety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The advancement of the technical representability of human beings has witnessed a similar unfolding. The simulation of the human likeness confronts us with a gaze that itself has never beheld another human. The counterpart of this gaze, from which we have entirely vanished and which cannot recognize but only ever allow for us in its calculations, casts us into a similar chasm of solitude when we are confronted by it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Opposing this is the notion of resemblance within the exhibition, and the search for that which resembles in the other. Here too, we have set the machines to follow in our footsteps, which attempt by way of measuring the parameters of a face to extract conformity from similarity. And generally, for no good. Yet in likeness to others lies our refuge, in our recognition and anticipation of others, in the affectionate gaze, our privilege.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-small-font-size has-global-padding is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-fc911b07 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Diese Ausstellung dreht sich um das Sich Erkennen im Blick eines anderen Menschen. Sie endet dort, wo man selbst, so wie zu Ende einer Liebesbeziehung, aus diesem Blick des Anderen verschwindet. Diese leichte Verschiebung des Blicks, der einen enth\u00e4lt oder nicht enth\u00e4lt, umfasst die ganze Katastrophe des Bruchs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Etwas \u00c4hnliches ist in der Entwicklung der technische Abbildbarkeit von Menschen passiert. Die Simulation des menschlichen Abbilds konfrontiert uns mit einem Blick, der nie einen Menschen erkannt hat. Das Gegen\u00fcber dieses Blicks aus dem wir vollst\u00e4ndig verschwunden sind und der uns nicht erkennen, sondern immer nur berechnen kann, wirft uns, wenn wir mit ihm konfrontiert sind, in einen \u00e4hnlichen Abgrund an Einsamkeit wie das Verschwinden aus dem Blick des Anderen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Dem gegen\u00fcber steht in der Ausstellung die \u00c4hnlichkeit, und das Suchen nach dem \u00c4hnlichen im Anderen. Auch hier haben wir die Maschinen auf unsere Spur geschickt, die durch das Vermessen der Parameter eines Gesichts versuchen aus dem \u00c4hnlichen die genaue \u00dcbereinstimmung herauszufiltern. Meist f\u00fcr nichts Gutes. Aber die \u00c4hnlichkeit zu den anderen ist darin unser Schutz und sie erkennen und antizipieren zu k\u00f6nnen, der zugeneigte Blick, unser Privileg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-small-font-size has-global-padding is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-fc911b07 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Der Titel der Ausstellung schreibt die Entstehung einer Arbeit des deutschen Fotografen Thomas Ruff weiter, einer Fotografie, die 1991 als Edition f\u00fcr das Kunstmagazin Texte zur Kunst entstanden ist. Sie war Teil einer Portraitserie von K\u00fcnstlerInnen aus der K\u00f6lner und D\u00fcsseldorfer Kunstszene, deren Augen alle durch andere, anonyme blaue Augen ersetzt wurden. Im Fall des Fotos, das Ruff vom K\u00fcnstler Josef Strau f\u00fcr die TzK Edition gemacht hat, heisst es, dass Ruff die Augen des ikonischen deutschen Models Claudia Schiffer verwendet hat. In diesem Foto, das in einer gewissen N\u00fcchternheit das Abbild eines Menschen wiederzugeben scheint, spieglen nun gerade die Augen eine v\u00f6llig andere Person \/ ein anderes Geschlecht \/ einen anderen Erfahrungshorizont \/ ein anderes Selbstverst\u00e4ndnis. Die blauen Augen sind sprachlich und bildlich dabei dem Bild des deutschen Menschens zugeordnet. Eine Konstruktion, die hier von Thomas Ruff durchaus auch absichtlich eingesetzt wird, nachdem ihm genau das bei seinen fr\u00fcheren Portraits seiner Mitstudierenden vorgeworfen wurde. Die Aufgabe des Portraits seit dem Beginn der Kunstgeschichte den Portraitierten in seiner Einzelartigkeit zu erfassen wird jedenfalls durch die abweichende Information der Augen, auf die sich der Blick bei l\u00e4ngerer Betrachtung konzentriert, korrumpiert. Ihre Arbeit im Ausstellungsraum besteht aus 7 fotografischen Portraits aus einer Serie von bis heute 11 Bildern, die zwischen 2008 und 2023 entstanden sind. Es sind Fotografien von Personen, von denen die K\u00fcnstlerin denkt, dass sie ihr \u00e4hnlich sehen. In der Ausstellung finden sich zwei Aufnahmen, eine 2010 in Shanghai entstanden, die andere 2015 in Kos. Fast automatisch untersucht man die jeweils zwei unterschiedlichen Menschen auf ihre \u00c4hnlichkeit, so wie man das selbst wohl mit seinen Eltern immer wieder gemacht hat. Individuelle und sich im Laufe des Lebens kaum \u00e4ndernde \u201eGesichtssignaturen\u201c, bestehend aus Datensets von wenigen Kilobytes, sorgen f\u00fcr die eindeutige Identifizierung des Subjektes. Durch wenige Ver\u00e4nderungen von Bild zu Bild ergibt sich in der Serie die Verwandlung des Selbstportraits in g\u00e4nzlich andere Personen. Gleichzeitig entwickelt sich ein affektiver Bezug zu dem dahinter liegenden Bild des Selbst, eine Zugeneigtheit zu einem prek\u00e4ren Individuums, \u00e4hnlich der gegen\u00fcber zu Unrecht Sie stammen aus den fr\u00fchen 1990er Jahren und zeigen zum einen eine damals im Entstehen begriffene Medienlandschaft, die des fr\u00fchen Privatfernsehens mit seiner Kapitalisierung gro\u00dfer Bereiche des t\u00e4glichen Lebens in der Verwendung in Game Shows und Reality TV. Aus dem Fernseher r\u00fchrt die flaue Farbigkeit, eingefangen durch eine vom K\u00fcnstler erfundene Malmaschine, anonymisiert nicht nur weil niemand mehr weiss, wer die abgebildeten Menschen sind, deren Pr\u00e4senz dennoch eine individuelle Existenz suggeriert, zum anderen weil noch nicht einmal das Tun des K\u00fcnstlers sie wieder mit einer Erz\u00e4hlung ausstattet. Die hier gezeigten Portraits, wahllos auf einem Tisch verstreut, als m\u00fcssten sie erst geordnet werden, dabei immer die selben Varianten zeigend, entstammen der k\u00fcnstlichen Intelligenz, in dem Fall StyleGAN. Dem Zusammenspiel von zwei Computern, einem der Zufallsdaten produziert und einem, der in \u201ehei\u00df-kalt\u201c Manier die Wahrscheinlichkeit benennt, das Bild eines Menschen aus diesen Daten lesen zu k\u00f6nnen. Sebastian Luetgert hat in der 2020 entandenen Arbeit in den Code von StyleGAN eingegriffen und den Durchschnittspunkt dieses zu erzeugenden Menschen verschoben. Ungefragt an weiblich gelesene Menschen verschickt, die wahrscheinlich auch nach Alter und Einkommen sortiert werden,<br>sind das generierte Gesichter, die sogenannten \u201eRomance Scam\u201c E-Mails angeheftet werden. Man sieht den Computer geradezu entlang banaler Kriterien Menschen zusammenzimmern, die mimetisch das Elend bebildern, das eine konventionelle heterosexuelle Begehrenslogik f\u00fcr Frauen vorgesehen hat. In dem in der Ausstellung gezeigten Textbild passiert dies doppelt, indem die Sprache in ihr Bild, die Traurigkeit \/ die Tr\u00e4ne, wieder hineingefaltet ist, so wie sie sich als Text aus dem Geschehen selbst herausfaltet.
